Brunch at 240 Union

I was relaxing in my yoga pants this morning....about to open the Denver Post when my husband asked if I'd be interested in going to brunch.

Hell Yeah!

He's not much of a breakfast person so when he's in the mood, I jump on it.

We decided now would be the perfect time to start teaching our two 5 year olds about eating in a fancy restaurant so we went to 240 Union.

I loved my $2.40 Mimosa but I was shocked to see that they charged me $2.50 for a child's orange juice.  It would have been cheaper to order them Mimosas.....Champs on the side.

Champs.  That's what I call Champagne now because of my idol....Heather Dubrow from The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Where was I?  Oh yes,  we ordered the Deviled Eggs and they were delightful!  I wasn't really expecting much because Deviled Eggs aren't all that usually but these were different.

They had a bit of a kick to them....we debated on what it was, cayenne or Wasabi.  The green liquid on the plate was basil oil and it took every once of willpower not to lick the plate clean. I was trying to set a good example for the children.....

I ordered the Egg on Brioche with Spinach and Wild Mushrooms.  It was really tasty but I discovered that I'm not that much of a fan of spinach so I switched plates with my husband.  He had the Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs with chive cream cheese.  I liked it very much.  Thank Honey....for letting me eat your breakfast!

We were all stuffed....but I noticed Key Lime Pie on the dessert menu and I've never had it and figured everyone would help me finish it.  This was more like a cheesecake and the lime flavor wasn't as pronounced as I was expecting but it was light and creamy.

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for my review of 240 Union and I would never serve my children Mimosas.

Rock N Meat

A couple weeks ago, my son desperately wanted a Sorcerer's Stone so I googled ROCK STORE and found a cute little place a few blocks away called Red & Green Minerals.  It had every rock under the sun and other cool things too.  We were headed back to the car when something caught my eye.

An Italian Meat Market!

We walked into the small space and were amazed at all of the stuff they have.  It was at this moment that I was regretting my gluten free lifestyle and wishing I could take some pasta home.

We stepped up to the deli counter and tried a few things.  I was really excited to find Prosciutto and they gave us some sausage to cook at home.  So nice of them!  It was delicious by the way!

We love finding little hidden gems like this and I was super excited to share it with my Denver readers.

They have two locations.  One in Lakewood and one in Aurora.

Chad's Grill in Lakewood

Chad's is in my hood. And we overlook it all the time in favor of the big city of Denver. I will overlook no more.....I am HOOKED!

I love comfort food...because I am generally, in need of comfort.  My favorite would have to be Mac and Cheese.  I'm on a personal mission to find THE best Mac and Cheese and I think I already have a tie.

This Grown Up Mac and Cheese has asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes.  It's made with Gouda which has to be one of my favorite cheeses and you can add Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Crawfish or Shrimp.  I went with Andouille and it was perfect! I loved every single bite and it reheats beautifully the next day for lunch.

My husband went with the Spicy Cajun Jambalaya and he loved it.  Again...andouille sausage makes this dish.

My boy, who is 5 years old is a connoisseur of fine cheese pizza.  It's mostly his only food group so he knows his stuff.  He told me this is one of his favorites....and he asks me daily when he can eat it again.

They also have one of the greatest activities for children that are patiently waiting for their food.

Real crayons and stickers!

I'm a fan of dessert.....but I never need a full sized, full fat one.  Chad's has several options of treats in a shot glass.  I choose the Tiramisu.  It's the perfect amount of dessert.

Chad's has something for everyone.  They have brunch on the weekends and offer a gluten free menu.  They also have a really decent happy hour from 3pm-6pm every single day.
