Civic Center Eats

For a couple of years now, I've wanted to go to Civic Center Eats.  It's been my greatest desire to eat from a food truck and since my husband does not share this need, I had to find someone to do it with me.

My original plan was to go over the summer with my kids.  That just never happened.

Then...the season was drawing to a close and I knew I had to make this a reality so I asked Denise from Eat, Play, Love if she would meet me for a play date.  I knew that if I asked someone to do it with me, I'd actually go through with it.

She said yes and we had a great time!  There is so much to choose from but we went with The Denver Biscuit Truck and we were not disappointed!

I had real southern Sweet Tea for the first time and it was so good!  I need to learn to make this myself.  Have you ever had this before?  I posted the picture on Instagram and discovered that most everyone has tried it at least once and that I'd been deprived my whole life!

My biscuit was to die for!  It's called The Franklin and contained Fried Chicken, Bacon, Cheese and Gravy.  HEAVEN! Their menu looks amazing and I can't wait to try something else.

The good news is that you don't have to chase down the truck to get some good southern food.  They have an actual restaurant and you can visit it any time you want.

I think the next truck I want to try is the Tots Truck!  It looked like someone my kids might like too!

Join me next season at Civic Center Eats, almost every Tuesday and Thursday from June until September.

Bonnie Brae Ice Cream

I knocked a bunch of things off my foodie bucket list today ( more on that later) and it reminded me that I've been remiss in posting my adventures in ice cream.

In July (i think) we visited Bonnie Brae Ice Cream on a whim.   As in, I said....hey!  Who wants some ice cream and we drove like bats out of hell to another part of town without checking the weather and found ourselves at Bonnie Brae.

We got caught in a major downpour and I was glad I wasn't wearing a white shirt that day.

We loved the ice cream and my husband was VERY happy with all of the choices of flavors.  I'm easy.  I had the mocha.

I don't remember what the kids had but they loved it.

Come to think of it....it was probably Rocky Road and Chocolate.  Their stand by order.  Maybe someday they'll branch out.  Oh what am I saying....I get Coffee most of the time.

5280 Magazine 6 Top Craft Beers

5280 Magazine created a six pack of Colorado's top 6 craft beers for a limited time.  For some reason if you tell me that I can only get something for a short time or that there are only 5,280 of something.  I have to get it.

I'm crazy or something.

I dragged my family out in the cold last Friday night to Mile High Wine and Spirits in Belmar and found my six pack.  My intention was to share (because I'm a good wife) it with my husband and to do our own taste test during the Super Bowl.  We got through 4 of them before I got a migraine.  And finished the other two last night while watching The Bachelor.

iKeith and I do not have the same taste in beer so I thought this was a great assortment for us to try.  We both had a favorite and one that we both liked.  Here are the results:

iKeith's Favorite:

Red Ale from O'Dell Brewing Co

Connie's Favorite:

White Rascal from Avery Brewing Co.

We both liked:

Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing Co.
